  • Our child developmental interventionists are involved in providing early intervention, school aged intervention, social skills services, and teen and young adult interventions and community integration services. Our services are provided in the PCDA clinic, in home, and in community settings. Part time and full time available. The starting pay range for this position is $21 per hour.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, or related field (or within one month of completion of B.A.).

    Child development course work and work experience with young children required.

    Work experience with children, who have challenges in development/special needs, and their families.

    Bilingual verbal fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Korean highly desirable.

    Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate ideas clearly, and understanding of cross-cultural differences required.

    Friendly, positive demeanor and professional maturity required.  Desire and physical ability to play on the floor necessary.

    California driver’s license, reliable automobile and current automobile insurance required.

    California Department of Justice/FBI criminal clearance, TB clearance, or completion of medical treatment, and CPR certification required.

    Interest in long-term employment preferred.

  • The Fund Development Manager is a key member of the PCDA leadership team responsible for co-building an annual fund development plan and executing all activities tied to that plan. This includes managing the grants calendar and supporting grant applications and reporting, overseeing the planning of all fundraising events, and expanding on systems to maximize fundraising capacity. Responsibilities also include spearheading communications and assuring accurate upkeep of the organization’s donor database.

    Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

    Planning & Reporting

    • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Fund Development Task Force, develop and implement a comprehensive written annual fund development plan with strategies for donors and prospects in each constituent group (individuals, philanthropic organizations, corporations, etc.) to be approved by the board.

    • Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director and the board which measure progress towards achieving goals and identifies trends and shifts in donor behavior.

    • Assist Executive Director with researching and preparing grant applications. Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance as required by grant award documentation.

    • Administer draw requests for any funding source which operates through a “draw down” or reimbursement process.

    Gifts Cultivation

    • Implement strategies for donor development and cultivation which will provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for PCDA.

    • Keep up-to-date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector and inform the affiliate leadership of items that would benefit PCDA.

    • Identify and pursue new sources of corporate and foundation funding.

    • Build and maintain relationships with major donors of all types, develop strategies for solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other affiliate staff, board or volunteers, as appropriate.

    • Create and update collateral materials to support gift cultivation.

    • Under the direction of the Executive Director, develop and implement all aspects of direct donor mailings, appeal letters, monthly newsletter, and other donor mailings as needed.

    • Ensure that the donor database information is current and accurate.

    • Acknowledgement of all gifts and donations.

    Events

    • Manage and oversee all PCDA House Parties and events.

    • Work with appropriate staff and volunteers to ensure that all aspects of a successful event are coordinated towards a common goal, with appropriate follow-up.

    • Solicit and support hosts for House Parties.

    • Develop and solicit sponsors for events as needed.

    Public Relations and Marketing

    • Write press releases and media alerts.

    • Develop and maintain media contacts with area media outlets.

    • Oversee and direct all media relations, social media communication, media production and general branding of the affiliate and all its programs.

    • Provide routine updates to website to assure that information is current and accurate

    This position is located at PCDA in Pasadena, a mix of offices and clinical space. Working remotely is available and likely required, given PCDA’s current reduced office capacity (reflective of our pandemic commitment to protecting vulnerable communities). The Development Manager will be expected to travel, particularly within the greater Los Angeles area (within Covid safety protocols).

    This position requires a minimum of three years’ experience in a fundraising management role with a non-profit organization. Professional experience is strongly preferred, but a bachelor’s degree and/or fundraising certifications may be substituted for experience. As a member of the PCDA leadership team, this position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective time-management, problem solving and organizational skills.

    Connections to the Pasadena major donor and greater Los Angeles philanthropic community would be exceptional. Demonstrated skill in sustaining major donor and philanthropic relationships elsewhere may be substituted.

    Candidates must have proven skill in equity-informed fundraising strategy and inclusive department management, shifting power dynamics through a community-driven approach. We particularly need someone who:

    1. Understands and champions our belief that everyone is essential in everything we do.

    2. Skillfully engages staff and board leadership in fundraising.

    3. Thrives stewarding staff, culture, operating model, and pandemic change.

    PCDA’s DonorPerfect software has been an under-utilized tool. It is a key responsibility for the Development Manager, in collaboration with the Controller and Finance Manager, to ensure it correlates with our accounting data and yields current, accurate information for reporting and donor engagement. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to embrace, improve, and utilize fundraising software. DonorPerfect expertise is preferred, but experience with other software may be considered.

    Additional Qualifications and Desired Traits:

    • B.A./B.S. preferred with an emphasis or concentration in marketing, public relations, fund development or related field. 

    • Three – five years professional development and fund-raising experience.

    • Experience and contacts in the Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley and Los Angele area are a plus. 

    • Advanced PC skills and expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, website management and Online Marketing platforms, such as Constant Contact and Marketing Design platforms, such as Canva.

    • Desire to work as part of a team and willingness to promote the principles and views of PCDA.

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident, with personal accountability and sound judgment. 

    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with excellent attention to detail. 

    • Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience.  Ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge, and supervise volunteers. 

    • Confident public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing 

    • Commitment and ability to uphold PCDA’s brand in all aspects of correspondence and behavior. Note: Brand Brief will be shared during the phone screening stage of the interview process.

    Compensation

    This exempt (salary, not hourly) position’s salary range at full time is $75,000 to $90,000 per year and we encourage senior candidates seeking alternative hours or part time or job sharing. Placement within the range is dependent on the qualifications and time commitment of the successful candidate. PCDA offers the following benefits including:

    General responsibilities

    Provide music therapy services and DIR services to children, adolescents and teens, and on occasion older adults with developmental disabilities.

    This position includes:

    • Providing music therapy and adapted lesson assessment services

    • Planning and implementing therapeutic treatment plans to address goals in music therapy services

    • Providing social skills support within our teen club program and social skills groups

    • Create adapted materials and effective teaching materials to teach piano/guitar to children with special needs

    • Maintaining accurate client records including daily chart notes, progress reports and discharge reports

    • Providing information to and maintain dialog with parents, teachers, service coordinators and therapists as needed

    • Becoming familiar with DIR/Floortime approach and incorporate therapeutic strategies into clinical work

    While this position is part-time, there is growing interest in music therapy services within our agency, and the potential for more hours if mutually agreeable. Full-time hours are based on client availability to fill the caseload. Our productivity expectation is 75% of scheduled hours for direct client care.

    Job Type: Part-time, expected hours no less than 25 per week
